Notice for Athens Water Customers
Disconnect notices were mailed out on March 20 to all Athens water customers with an outstanding balance. Enclosed in the envelope was a letter explaining that a batch of bills had been destroyed at the post office. With that, we will not be adding penalties to accounts and we will also NOT be doing shut-offs for the beginning of April. This will be a one-time situation, and is only good for the February 2017 bill that was due on March 15, 2017.
We understand that this is a major inconvenience for everyone who did not receive a bill, but please note that the bills always go to the post office on the last day of the month and they are always due on the 15th of the next month. Regardless if you receive a postcard bill or not, the bill is still in due, so please call our office at 217-636-8429 if you do not receive a bill before the due date and we will be happy to assist you.
Our hopes were to reach as many people as possible with outstanding balances before the next billing was done. If you are reading this and you still have not received a bill or a disconnect notice, please call our office to make sure your address and contact information is correct.
